Catalina J. Natalini
Executive Director, AIA
Catalina J. Natalini is a graduate from the University of Zurich and a State Certified Court Interpreter. She has previously served in the Delaware Administrative Office of the Courts’ Court Interpreter Program Advisory Board as Interpreter Representative, and as Chair of the Delaware Chapter of the International Medical Interpreters Association. She is very glad to join the American Interpreters Association and to be able to continue her work on behalf of her peer interpreters and the profession in her role as Executive Director.
María M. Pérez-Chambers
Chair, AIA Executive Committee
María is an experienced federal and state certified independent court interpreter and interpreter trainer. She served as the Interpreter Representative in the Delaware Administrative Office of the Courts’ Court Interpreter Program Advisory Board and later as Coordinator of the Court Interpreter Program for the Delaware Judiciary. Maria brings to the Executive Committee expertise and perspectives on the profession afforded by these diverse experiences. She is optimistic that the Board’s contributions will spur the growth of AIA to the benefit of its membership and the profession.
As of April 1, 2018, Maria stepped down from her Chair position due to a professional appointment.
Andrés Urdaneta
Vice-Chair, AIA Executive Committee
Andrés is a certified Judiciary Interpreter and a Federal Court Interpreter candidate. In support of his commitment to the profession, Andrés serves as an Interpreter Services Committee Member at the Pennsylvania Interbranch Commission for Gender, Racial, Ethnic Fairness, a commission responsible for addressing inequities and securing fairness and equal justice in Pennsylvania’s court system. Andrés brings his business expertise to the Board in furtherance of the association goals.
Andres has taken the helm as Chair and will hold the position until the next election cycle.
Linda A. Dedrick
Treasurer, AIA Executive Committee
Linda A. Dedrick is a dynamic independent interpreter who works in the New Jersey courts. She is an experienced problem solver and she is bringing her organizational skills and diligence to and in support of the association’s goals and the profession in her role as Treasurer.
Ana K. Borja
Secretary, AIA Executive Committee
Former aircraft maintenance technician, video editor and camera operator, Ana moved to the east coast in 2009 where she decided to undertake a new challenge: to become an interpreter. The undertaking proved difficult beyond the complexities inherent to the profession mainly because the resources needed to develop as a professional where not readily available. Alas! After much effort, she became a certified medical and court interpreter, and is currently federal court interpreter candidate. Through her participation in AIA, she hopes to continue her commitment to the interpreter profession, to broaden visibility, promote professionalism, and be a source of information for new generations of interpreters.
Alina Salvat
AIA Board Member-at-large
Alina Salvat is a certified court interpreter and her professional experience encompasses both the public and private sectors. Prior to interpreting, Alina had successful careers as a banker and program manager for health programs. As the latter, she successfully wrote and submitted grant proposals to public and private funding sources obtaining over $12M in funds between calendar years 1989 and 2003. As a member-at-large of the AIA Board, Alina brings her expertise and will lead in securing funds to advance AIA’s mission and goals.
